Cindy Wilson, founder of Wilson Family Law LLC, dedicates her practice exclusively to family law. Cindy’s broad expertise includes litigation, negotiation, mediation, parenting coordination and collaborative law, providing her clients with a wide range of options to navigate their divorce and family matters. She handles each case with compassion and understanding while educating her clients and providing them with the knowledge and insight they need to make the best decisions for them.
Cindy has extensive experience handling sensitive and confidential financial matters including those involving complex compensation structures, private equity interests, hedge funds, and privately held companies.
As a court-approved Economic Mediator, she is called upon to mediate difficult matters both with and without attorneys. She was one of the first court-approved Parenting Coordinators after New Jersey adopted new rules pertaining to PC work. She is appointed often by the courts to serve as a Parenting Coordinator for high conflict custody matters. Her prior experience as a Special Education teacher working with inner city teenagers in out-of-district placements serves her well when working with the most challenging of family relationships.
Believing that the courtroom is the last resort, especially since 98% of all divorce matters end in settlement, Cindy has a keen interest in the art of negotiation and mediation. She received certificates in both Negotiation and Leadership as well as Mediation Intensive from the Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation. Using skillful negotiation techniques, Cindy empowers her clients and educates them with peaceful problem-solving strategies.
Cindy received her B.A. from Rutgers University and her J.D. from Seton Hall Law School. She clerked for the NJ Attorney General’s Office in the Division of Youth and Family Services (now the Division of Child Protection and Permanency). After law school, she clerked for the Chief Judge of the Family Division in Rockville, Maryland, where she lectured on gun possession in domestic violence cases.
During a brief hiatus from practicing family law, she worked as an Administrator for her beloved alma mater, Seton Hall Law School, where she was a member of the NJ Supreme Court Committee on Women in the Courts. Her dedication to helping others was recognized by the SHL Class of 2008 by naming the Office of Student Services in her honor.
